A male lion from the Matshipiri coalition walks right past our vehicle this morning. He had recently stolen the remains of a wildebeest kill from the Mhangeni Breakaway pride, hence the distended stomach. He walked and roared throughout the morning until he relocated the pride who had since settled near a waterhole, the spot we eventually left them at londolozi

Capturing this exact moment between these two powerful creatures put such a big smile on my face. As the rain fell upon myself and the lions. I had no care for the rain. I simply focused on the lions for this moment in time. It paid off.

We found two new males in our area this morning! They are known as the Marimba males and are getting pushed down to our side by other males… this could mean war for the Charleston males!
We came across one of the Southern Pride females walking along the road this morning and after following her through some thick bush, she led us to the rest of the pride who were all underneath a Tambotie thicket.

January 29th. 2 lion sightings: the 2 Matshapiri males were found with 5 of the breakaway lionesses. We watched the 7 lions swim westwards across the Sand River before they started hunting zebra near our Airstrip. The Eyrefield pride were viewed along the Kapen River.

This is one of the 2 Matshipiri male lions at Londolozi,South Africa.They were both very busy with the 5 lionessess of the Mhangeni breakaway pride.These 5 lionesses were part of the original 9 cubs all who survived from the Mhangeni prides first litter.For those interested in lion dynamics the Mhangeni pride originated from the Tsalala pride and 4 lionesses broke away to form what is known at the Mhangeni pride and we were also fortunate to see them this time and they have 12 cubs to be posted later.
We saw the Mhangeni breakaways with the Matshipiri lions at Londolozi .They are the 5 lionesses of the first litter of the Mhangeni pride .We also saw the original 4 lionesses of the Mhangeni pride but they were with all the cubs and there were no males with them at Londolozi.
这是2头在Londolozi的马特雄狮当中的1头，它们都忙碌于与5头曼海尼分队狮群雌狮在一起（交配）。这5头雌狮是曼海尼主队狮群第一批9个孩子中的成员，，，我们还看到了曼海尼主队狮群的4头雌狮和它们所有的孩子（12个幼崽）也在londolozi，但没有雄狮陪伴在身边。

And we're back with our daily reports- our sincere apologies to all for the lack of them recently! 3 lion sightings: the 2 Matshapiri males spent the day roaring frequently near our airstrip- other roars could also be heard nearby, presumably from the breakaway lionesses. 1 unidentified lioness was seen along the Mlowathi River. A single Gowrie male was also viewed in the north.

MALAMALA TODAY: February 19th. 5 lion sightings: 2 of the Styx lionesses were viewed with a Gowrie male near Mlowathi Dan early this morning. Soon after the 3rd Styx lioness was found with her 2 cubs a few hundred meters away. The Eyrefield pride surprised us when they were found deep in the south- some ways outside of their territory. The 4 cubs of the Fourways pride were seen in eastern Flockfield. The 2 Matshapiri males were on our Airstrip again this morning.

4 lion sightings: the Marthly pride are still feeding off their zebra kill south of Stwise Koppie. The Styx pride and one Gowrie male were viewed at Mlowathi Dam. The Matshapiri males are mating with one of the breakaway lionesses near Rattrays Camp- they can still be heard roaring now and we can hear other males roaring not too far south of them. The Eyrefield pride were viewed at Princess Alice's Pans.

3 lion sightings: the 4 Gowrie males spent the day along the northern reaches of our reserve. 1 of the Matshapiri males and 5 breakaway lionesses were found on Lion Loop. The other Matshapiri male is mating with the 6th breakaway lioness- they swam eastwards across the Sand River this evening and joined up with the aforementioned 6 lions.
