J.J.艾布拉姆斯的坏机器人制片公司目前和BARCO签订合约，将制作《星际迷航：超越星辰》三屏全景版本，派拉蒙影业发行的《星际迷航：超越星辰》院线上映版本之一。
J.J.Abrams' Bad Robot has closed a deal with digital cinema technology developer Barco whereby Bad Robot and Paramount will release a special version of Star Trek Beyond for Barco Escape, a theatrical system aimed at immersing viewers in the experience with three screens stitched together across the front and side walls of a theater. The film, which opens July 22, will be a high-profile release for the young Escape format.

"Or you might see the Enterprise coming across the screen — and maybe you'll see more and the attacking forces. There are new ships and antagonists that are well suited to the expanded image."
For this version, Bad Robot will be remastering the film, with certain sections of the movie expanding to reach out across the panoramic tri-screen display — "at least 20 minutes, hopefully more," said Rosenblatt.

Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin and J.J. Abrams, who directed the first two films in the franchise reboot, will be leading the creative, which will be a cooperative effort between Bad Robot’s in-house VFX unit, Kelvin Optical; the film’s lead VFX house, Double Negative; and VFX house Atomic Fiction.
Since the film was already shot when the deal was completed, the expansion of the imagery into the side wall screens will be, in some parts, fully CG extensions of the VFX shots. Rosenblatt said some shots will incorporate production footage that wasn’t used in the wide release version, while others would be a combination of production footage modified with VFX.
Barco expects to have roughly 50 Escape-equipped theater installations in time for the Star Trek Beyond release.

I play Krall. This is a man with a definite purpose. I say a man, but he’s not a man. Or is he?
Everyone wants to know: Is he a Gorn?
No.
Is he a new species in the Star Trek universe?
Yes. What’s interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for. Krall’s a character who’s deeply steeped in hatred — in my opinion, a well-earned hatred — for the Federation. It felt quite political. There’s a relatability to what’s happening in our world. Not everybody’s happy with what everybody calls the good guys.

There’s that line in the trailer, “This is where the Frontier pushes back.” It feels like a refutation of the whole foundation for the Federation.
There’s some history that we explore, to understand why he feels the frontier needs to push back. There’s definitely an opposing argument to the good that the Federation think they do. There are purists that believe in independence, and believe that we’re all made differently for a reason, and will fight tooth and nail to defend that. There’s massive relatability to modern world politics in that sense.
Some Star Trek bad guys are physical threats, and then there are villains like Khan who give all kinds of great megalomaniacal speeches. Does Krall fall into one of those traditions?
Krall is predatory. He’s not one for big speeches. He is one for going to get what he wants. If that means having to do it himself, outside of his army, he is not afraid to do that.

What it like working under all that makeup?
Typically, my day would start at 4:15 in the morning. I’d be in the chair until around 7:30, shoot about 8:30. Shot ‘til around 9 at night, maybe later. Get home, unwind, get to sleep, and then wake up in the morning and do the whole thing again. It was definitely an extensive process. I learned so much about working with prosthetics, and how that can influence the performance. I’m claustrophobic by the way; I don’t like rubber masks on my face.
Did you have a favorite Star Trek character growing up?
Honestly, my favorite character from the TV show was Clark Kent. Clark Kent? [laughs] Sorry, different show! Captain Kirk was my favorite. Kirk was just smooth, man! There was nothing fazing him. It was part of the DNA of the show that, in times of ridiculous peril, Mr. Kirk was the coolest actor on the set.

I can’t imagine at this point what else could happen for this character. I think, after this film, you don’t want me to return.

A：我现在不能想象什么事情会发生在我的角色上，我觉得观众在看了这部电影之后，是不会希望我再回归系列的。
Typically, my day would start at 4:15 in the morning. I’d be in the chair until around 7:30, shoot about 8:30. Shot ‘til around 9 at night, maybe later. Get home, unwind, get to sleep, and then wake up in the morning and do the whole thing again. It was definitely an extensive process. I learned so much about working with prosthetics, and how that can influence the performance. I’m claustrophobic by the way; I don’t like rubber masks on my face.
Did you have a favorite Star Trek character growing up?
Honestly, my favorite character from the TV show was Clark Kent. Clark Kent? [laughs] Sorry, different show! Captain Kirk was my favorite. Kirk was just smooth, man! There was nothing fazing him. It was part of the DNA of the show that, in times of ridiculous peril, Mr. Kirk was the coolest actor on the set.

Q：星际迷航系列中你最喜欢的角色是什么？
A：说实话，我最喜欢的是电视剧节目中的克拉克·肯特.[大笑]抱歉，完全不同的节目！柯克舰长是我的最爱。他当舰长简直是得心应手，没有什么事情能困扰到他。无论被困在什么样的险境，柯克先生都是最冷静的那个人。
What is Krall’s relationship like with Kirk in Beyond?
Working with Chris [Pine] was a good old laugh. He’s a funny boy, and a wicked professional. But in terms of Krall and Kirk… can we say, Jaws and Dory?

阿里影业今日在北京宣布，与派拉蒙电影公司再次达成合作，参与投资派拉蒙两部新片《忍者神龟2》与《星际迷航：超越星辰》。
这是阿里影业与派拉蒙继《碟中谍5》后，再一次与派拉蒙在好莱坞系列大片上达成合作，两部影片均在全球拥有大量观众，将于今年暑期在北美上映，下半年登陆中国。

“I think Justin brought his own vision to the story, for sure,” the actor said during a panel for the Leonard Nimoy documentary For the Love of Spock. “I don’t think he was trying to do it like J.J., which is great. And they’re very different people, they’re very different directors.”

He continued, “Both are enormously talented. J.J’s much more extrovert. I loved working with him. He’s very respectful but very sure.”
