英文每篇文章的深度核心思维与语篇逻辑都是不一样的。
不能根据每篇文章的实际情况形成自己的深度理解，很难驾驭英语阅读。

第一句用了A for B结构，把核心词放在B部分，突出了文章的核心讨论对象：对生态系统功能的“货币化”观点，双破折号有点类似于同位语的用法，是一种独立的对前面内容的承接解释，可以跳跃修饰第一个破折号之前的名词或名词词组。冒号后对这种担忧进行说明，转折之后用了隐藏的否定结构in the absence of作为条件，用直接的否定词not与状态描述词translated into延续的说明否定的变化状态。
『第一句出现了描述可能性的may be，在英文语篇的深度思维中，可能性是一种语篇伏笔，表示后续仍然有不同的变化与差异。』
第二句用some的模糊修饰引述了评论家们的观点，blame on这个短语有一定的贬义色彩，包含对评论家一些情感态度的体现。
『读取观点部分的态度倾向词，是我一直强调的，很多GMAT问题都集中于包含态度情感色彩的用词，实现与原文的替代、转换与改写。』
this impasse（这种僵局）承接的是第一句缺少对保护的经济论证情况下没有能转化为重要的保护进步；whom是连接代词，连接复数代词they引导的定语从句修饰先行词environmentalists，定语从句中address在美语文章中经常有处理、对付、应对的意思。
第二句意思：一些评论家将这样的僵局归咎于环保人士，这些环保人士认为没能应对环境退化中的经济问题。
第三句用when引导的从句说明条件情况，主句部分将保护与经济收益相比较，用负面态度词unprofitable提出对保护的评价，从句中动词词组derived from说明来源性，后面的分词词组convert into说明一种转变性，derived from常常在英文句子中扮演因果联系的逻辑。
『同学们在这里要深度思考下主句与从句的点句关系，实际上主句部分已经用一个否定词unprofitable把整个句子带过去了，从句部分可以略读。』
