【老虎】雄虎争斗，争夺配偶之战 20190701
NAGPUR: Two male tigers fighting for territories and breeding female is well known, but young naturalist and wildlife lover from city Saurabh Kurve witnessed the rarest of rare moment in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve’s (TATR) buffer zone of Alizanjha-Navegaon on Monday morning.
Talking to TOI, Kurve said that during excursion he sighted resident ‘Jogamoga’ male, around 4 years, fighting with transient ‘Kankajhari’ male on Navegaon-Tadoba road while a young tigress, separated from her resident mother P3, staring at both the tigers haplessly.
“The fight lasted for about 6 minutes with both tigers suffering injuries on neck and the loser ‘Jogamoga’ tiger withdrew from the spot. Later, winner ‘Kankajhari’ left the spot with the tigress,” said Kurve.
The most interesting part of the story is that Kankajhari, around 8 years, is a resident of Madnapur-Kolara area in the buffer zone of Tadoba and already has three cubs, one male two females, from Junabai female. These cubs have separated and Kankajhari mated with Junabai again and dispersed 30km to Navegaon in search of new breeding female.
Kurve informed that P3 is sister of Maya and had dispersed to Navegaon adjoining Tadoba 4 years ago. P3 had three cubs from another male resident tiger named Bajrang.
