What is the Growth Mindset?
A growth mindset is the belief that intelligence improves through study and practice.
They believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.

What is the Fixed Mindset?
A Fixed Mindset believes that intelligence is a fixed trait. They believe that you're born with a certain amount of intelligence, and you can't do much to change that.

Had you heard of this concept before? (more than just yes or no)
I did not know it before ,But for my experience , Brain can be smarter after much more practice .Just like an old saying in my country:
Taking ten years to sharpen a sword
means , Keep studying and practice is the key to success!

What did you find interesting about the concept of Fixed Mindset and Growth Mindset?
I think it is interesting .This is the experience of many people they get from life .
Fixed mindset people just live the same way as before or their old generations ,I know that is safety and comfortable for some people
But , Growth mindset people are positive ,optimism about challenges and difficulties .They changed the trait of the life style , They can get success where every they live .
Thought guide behavior; Behavior habit; Habit forming character; Character is destiny.
I like this concept .

What is it important to use the Growth Mindset in every course and activity you do?
Hiding weakness, Self improvement, Make effort to improve ourselves ,Face the difficulties and overcome it , get lessons from failure.Explore new area ,Confident about your ability that you can do it .

How will you use the Growth Mindset concept in this course?
Make a study plan , Write the knowledge you learnt on a notebook, Search class source from internet , Collect questions that you answered wrong ,and review it .
Ask help from internet or classmates or teachers . Practice more until you understand it .
If have a chance ,get a job to practice :))

Hi,Lana Kotov

Nice to be a classmate with you here

I 'd like to introduce a little bit of China to you as you said you want to travel to Asia someday ,Even maybe China is not your visit destination .
China could be modern to many western tourists, The metro systems in the big cities are very efficient , and convenient . The ticket is around 2RMB-4RMB or so , It is almost 0.3$-0.6$ .40km long metro distance is just 0.6$ ,Quit affordable ,Right?

China 's high speed railway is also worth for you to try , Stable and faster ,and clean . It is the first level in the world.

China is still extremely safe , You don't need to worry about violence ,You can walk on street in mid-night .

Foods are abundant ,you can call restaurant to deliver foods to your living place or hotels in 20 minutes . By the way ,most Chinese don't have a wallet , they use electrical wallet such as alipay or wechat pay.So usually cashless in every where .
If you are interested in history, China would be the good place for you ,You don't know when you are surround the historical sites which is thousands years old , for example my city , is almost 3000 years old . A lot of historical stories you never end to study .
Welcome to visit China , thank you for taking time to read this :))

Summary
Chapter 2 discusses how companies record the transactions that take place and eventually become part of the financial statements. A transaction is any event that has a financial impact on the business and can be measured reliably. Transactions provide objective information about the financial impact on a company, and it has two sides: giving something and receiving something in return. Both sides of the transaction must be recorded.
Various account categories and examples are given. Assets are economic resources that provide a future benefit for a business. Examples of assets include cash, accounts receivable, notes receivable, inventory, prepaid expenses, land, buildings, and equipment, furniture, and fixtures. Liabilities are debts of the business. Common types include accounts payable, notes payable, and accrued liabilities. The owners’ claims to the assets of a corporation are called stockholders’ equity. Common stock, retained earnings, dividends, revenues, and expenses are all part of stockholders’ equity.
Accounting is based on a double-entry system, whereby each transaction affects at least two accounts. An account can be represented by the letter “T,” or a T-account. The vertical line divides the “T” into a left side and a right side. The left side is called the debit side, and the right side is called the credit side. Increases in assets are recorded on the debit side of the account, while decreases to assets are recorded on the credit side. Liabilities and stockholders’ equity are increased with credits, and they are decreased with debits.
Revenues are increases in stockholders’ equity that result from delivering goods or services to customers. Expenses are decreases in stockholders’ equity due to the cost of operating the business. Dividends and expenses are equity accounts that are increased with a debit. Revenues are equity accounts that are increased with a credit.
Accountants utilize a journal to record transactions in the company’s books. Three steps must be taken in order to journalize a transaction: each affected account must be specified, a determination must be made regarding the increase/decrease of each account, and the transaction is recorded in the journal. These journal entries are then copied to the ledger in a process called posting. After all entries are posted, a balance in each account can be determined.
A trial balance lists all accounts with their balances and shows whether total debits equal total credits. The trial balance is shown with assets listed first, followed by liabilities and stockholders’ equity. A trial balance may be prepared at any time, but typically the preparation occurs at the end of the period. The trial balance assists in the preparation of the financial statements – income statement, statement of retained earnings, and balance sheet.
The ledger can be used to analyze the activity of a company’s transactions. Additionally, a trial balance can be used to correct any accounting errors that may have occurred during the period.
Organizations use a chart of accounts to list all of their accounts and the corresponding account numbers. Each account will have a normal balance, which will fall on either the debit or the credit side. The normal balance of assets is the debit side, while liabilities and stockholders’ equity usually have a credit-side balance. Dividends and expenses carry a debit-side balance, and revenue will carry a credit-side balance.

FEDEX CORPORATION (CIK 0001048911)
ended May 31, 2019.

FedEx was formed in 1997,It is the world’s largest express transportation company.
www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001048911&owner=exclude&count=40&hidefilings=0

FedEx provides ground package delivery, air express transportation, freight delivery service, also provides sales, marketing, information technology, communications, customer service, technical support, billing and collection services.

As the global e-Commerce grows and expands quickly , It is a big chance to the transportation companies too .So I put my eyesight to USPS , Fedex, and USPS.

Fedex is the biggest delivery company in USA , better service , No government background ,So I choose Fedex to track.

If someday Fedex gives me a chance ,I would like to join the company , and suggest it to build E-commerce platform ,Compete with Amazon :)))

Why? it has its advantage:
Its global logistics lines.

I had used Fedex international express before It was delivered in 3days? I remember ? I Emailed to Fedex this year and asked the international service again , So someday I would use the service too.

I wonder how many logistics lines it own? Airlines I found , and was surprised that it owns 681airplanes 91000 vehicles?
( Pls read the section :Aircraft and Vehicles
As of May 31, 2019, FedEx Express’s aircraft fleet consisted of the following: )

It is a big surprise for me ? 681 airplanes? It has business with 220 countries , why it needs so many aircrafts ? Each country , it flies 3 aircrafts ? Oh , Maybe some planes fly ,some don't fly?

From Balance Sheet on page 100, Good will is 6884, Total assets is 54403

6884/54403=12.65% Is it normal rate comparing with other Company?

Goodwill

6,884

6,973

Other assets

4,004

3,862

Total other long-term assets

10,888

10,835

$
54,403
