半个月后，四路3兄弟离开萨比森北部猎豹平原出现在了南部的Kirkman*s营地与Lion Sands营地！

四路3兄弟在这个陌生区域做了短暂停留后离开南部回到了萨比森北部，并加入了四路狮群！2014年7月24日早晨，马蹄吧兄弟与四路狮群在萨比森北部不期而遇，四路狮群被冲散，四路小金发不幸被马蹄吧兄弟抓住，并遭到了马蹄吧兄弟对其凶狠的攻击，身负重伤。四路大金发中途返回试图营救小金发，它在被马老五攻击后不敌，不得不逃离了战场，几天后被重伤的四路小金发不治身亡！

MalaMala Game Reserve
On the 4th of July, a giraffe which had perished from natural causes was found by one of our rangers close to our south-western boundary. The lion prides soon capitalized on the opportunity of a free meal, including the Charleston pride. Also in attendance was a male coalition known as the Sand River males (named by our neighbours, and hardly ever seen on MalaMala).
One of the males from the coalition, referred to in this post as The Sand River male, was scent marking close to the giraffe carcass. The larger of the two males from the Charleston pride was not impressed and decided to make his feelings known. And so ensued an epic battle. Luckily one of our guests, Jerry Kagele, had his camera at the ready and recorded this clip of the two cats fighting.
The male from the Charleston pride is much younger than the Sand River male and is therefore smaller, but he still managed to put up a good fight. The lion to the left of your screen is the male from the Charleston pride, while the other is obviously the Sand River male. The clip ends with the Charleston male lion running off into the bushes, and the Sand River male hot on his heels.
Shortly thereafter, the Sand River male returned to the carcass and fed for a short while before leaving the area. It was only then that the Charleston pride returned to their ‘spoils of war’.

One of the Sand River males was found limping and had sustained some injuries behind his front legs.
今天沙河老三被目击到一瘸一拐,他的前腿有伤。
这是几天前天沙河老三为了夺取查尔狮群在马拉马拉南部的一头长颈鹿尸体，与护食的查尔大鼻头打了一架后留下的。

"The Sand River males and the three Southern Pride lionesses fed on a huge buffalo bull for 4 days before moving throughout the property scent marking and further establishing themselves as the dominant coalition here. The rest of the Southern Pride were found around Earth Lodge and the Sabie River trying to avoid and keep a low profile around the Sand River males. It is extremely interesting to watch the development of the social pride dynamics here of the Southern Pride. Will we have a permanent split? Only time will tell."

Some serious lion conflict was what met Kirkman’s Kamp rangers and guests this morning on game drive. Loud roars led us to the Charleston pride hot on the heels of the remaining Eyerfield male lion. The 2 Charleston male lions showed immense confidence and bravery as they followed and chased the more experienced lion towards the Kruger National Park. After finishing off a buffalo kill the three Sand River male lions began to walk their territory again calling long into the night, challenging any others who dare come close. They are finally starting to look like proper imposing males and doing their job properly. To see these three monsters walking through the bush, with full bellies and eyes filled with concentration was amazing for guests and guides alike.

One can only guess what happened last night but what we do know is the Charleston female was found on a buffalo kill with one of the Fourways males, who was sporting some battle wounds on the right side of the face. Not long after, the Charleston female left to go look for the two Charleston males. She was found again lying in the river calling for the boys. Moments later the two Charleston males were seen chasing the Fourways male off the kill, to which they returned to feast on the buffalo. Later on the Fourways male found his brother keeping a close eye on the Charleston female as she was enjoying a cool down in the river. Will the Charlesons males and the Fourway males meet up again this afternoon? Only time will tell.

Kirkman*s Kamp Private Game Reserve Just an update regarding the buffalo kill. Soon after chasing one of the Fourways males off the buffalo carcass yesterday morning, the Charleston males were seen walking in front of Kirkman*s Kamp lodge. The only conclusion we can make is that the Fourways males combined their forces once again to push the 2 younger Charleston males off the kill.
When we arrived at the sighting in the evening there were no males at the carcass. Intead, the Charleston lioness was happily feeding on the big buffalo bull. After gorging herself for a while she started calling. Her calls were answered by the 2 Fourways males and they soon joined her on the buffalo.
With baited breath and an air of anticipation dangling on tea deck, we set out to see what had transpired in the night. A combination of disappointment and anti-climax was felt when we found that the buffalo carcass had been abandoned and the lions had moved off for now. We*ll keep you up to date if there is any change this afternoon. ~ JP Joubert ~
昨天早晨查尔斯顿兄弟将一头四路雄狮追逐到一头水牛尸体旁后，被发现在Kirkman*s Kamp营地前走动，之后两头四路雄狮再次整合队伍去追杀两头年轻的查尔斯顿雄狮！
当我们晚上到达目击现场时在水牛尸体旁没有雄狮了，查尔斯顿阿姨非常开心的在享用水牛尸体，在它自己吃饱后开始吼叫。它的吼声引来了2头四路雄狮的回应，它们很快在水牛旁并且呆在一起。
当我们发现水牛尸体被遗弃而狮子们也不见了时，我们感到很失望，我们会继续更新如果今天下午会有新的变化！
【2014年9月17日】
Kirkman's Kamp Private Game Reserve
This morning left guests and rangers speechless.
After hearing lions roaring through the night, two of the Sand river males were tracked down to where they were walking towards a nearby waterhole.
Not long after more lion tracks were found. After spending time on foot tracking these animals, the alarm calls of impala were heard off in the distance. That's when the unmistakable sound of lions killing a buffalo was heard. After rushing off to the area where the sound came from the Charleston Pride were found trying to take down a buffalo. After a long battle including one of the Charlestons male been thrown 2 meters into the air, it seems the buffalo came out on top. The Charlestons were left hot on the heal of the buffalo as he crashes through a thicket on the way to the river. Will this afternoon provide us with our second buffalo kill in 3day?
After following up on leopard rasping two male leopards were found fighting around the beautiful sycamore fig tree. Through the chaos it was hard to identify the males but we suspect it might be the West Street male and the River Rocks male. There are exciting times ahead as it seems these males are fighting to take over a portion of Xovonekela's territory.
The Lower Sabie African Wild dog pack were then found on an impala kill along the banks of the Sand river. After feeding on the kill the adults went to call there pups so all 16 dogs could have a cool off in the river itself. Excitement is palpable as it looks like the pack may cross onto Kirkman's Kamp in the afternoon to look for a den.
Towards the end of the morning 3 hyenas were found surrounding a fully grown waterbuck in the river. I'm sure we will head that way this afternoon to see if they managed to take down the big boy.

Fourways male looking on as the sun breaks through the clouds.
Guests this morning woke up with a sinking heart as rain drop landed on the roofs of there room. Little did the know the morning that was ahead.
The fourways males were found on our famous island, all soked from the rains the fell earlier on. We then watched them moving further into Kirkmans property then they had ever been before. As usual over the last two weeks the Charleston Pride were found not to far away. The two Charleston boys were showing signs that the Charleston lioness was back in estrus.
早上游客们被雨水敲打房顶的声音吵醒，四路雄狮被发现在我们著名的地方，在接下来的时间了我们看到它们去了Kirkmans领地，这里是它们不曾来过的。在过去的两周里查尔斯顿狮群被发现在不远处，2个查尔斯顿男孩看着处于发情期的查尔斯顿母狮！

Kirkman*s Kamp Private Game Reserve Just an update regarding the buffalo kill. Soon after chasing one of the Fourways males off the buffalo carcass yesterday morning, the Charleston males were seen walking in front of Kirkman*s Kamp lodge. The only conclusion we can make is that the Fourways males combined their forces once again to push the 2 younger Charleston males off the kill.
When we arrived at the sighting in the evening there were no males at the carcass. Intead, the Charleston lioness was happily feeding on the big buffalo bull. After gorging herself for a while she started calling. Her calls were answered by the 2 Fourways males and they soon joined her on the buffalo.
With baited breath and an air of anticipation dangling on tea deck, we set out to see what had transpired in the night. A combination of disappointment and anti-climax was felt when we found that the buffalo carcass had been abandoned and the lions had moved off for now. We*ll keep you up to date if there is any change this afternoon. ~ JP Joubert ~
昨天早晨查尔斯顿兄弟将一头四路雄狮追逐到一头水牛尸体旁后，被发现在Kirkman*s Kamp营地前走动，之后两头四路雄狮再次整合队伍去追杀两头年轻的查尔斯顿雄狮！
当我们晚上到达目击现场时在水牛尸体旁没有雄狮了，查尔斯顿阿姨非常开心的在享用水牛尸体，在它自己吃饱后开始吼叫。它的吼声引来了2头四路雄狮的回应，它们很快在水牛旁并且呆在一起。
当我们发现水牛尸体被遗弃而狮子们也不见了时，我们感到很失望，我们会继续更新如果今天下午会有新的变化！

Kirkman's Kamp Private Game Reserve
This morning left guests and rangers speechless.
After hearing lions roaring through the night, two of the Sand river males were tracked down to where they were walking towards a nearby waterhole.
Not long after more lion tracks were found. After spending time on foot tracking these animals, the alarm calls of impala were heard off in the distance. That's when the unmistakable sound of lions killing a buffalo was heard. After rushing off to the area where the sound came from the Charleston Pride were found trying to take down a buffalo. After a long battle including one of the Charlestons male been thrown 2 meters into the air, it seems the buffalo came out on top. The Charlestons were left hot on the heal of the buffalo as he crashes through a thicket on the way to the river. Will this afternoon provide us with our second buffalo kill in 3day?
After following up on leopard rasping two male leopards were found fighting around the beautiful sycamore fig tree. Through the chaos it was hard to identify the males but we suspect it might be the West Street male and the River Rocks male. There are exciting times ahead as it seems these males are fighting to take over a portion of Xovonekela's territory.
The Lower Sabie African Wild dog pack were then found on an impala kill along the banks of the Sand river. After feeding on the kill the adults went to call there pups so all 16 dogs could have a cool off in the river itself. Excitement is palpable as it looks like the pack may cross onto Kirkman's Kamp in the afternoon to look for a den.
Towards the end of the morning 3 hyenas were found surrounding a fully grown waterbuck in the river. I'm sure we will head that way this afternoon to see if they managed to take down the big boy.

The Charleston males up to some funny business today.
This morning we found these two male lions "mating". This act of "mating" is not uncommon amongst animal. It is an act of displaying dominance, but with these boys I think there is a bit of frustration setting in.

今天2头沙河雄狮来到K营地，并且驱逐了查尔斯顿兄弟，查尔兄弟没有受伤，它们远离了沙河雄狮休息的地方，但查尔阿姨留下来与沙河雄狮在一起！
四路兄弟从9月4号开始入侵查尔狮群至11月中旬发生那场与沙河还有查尔的混战后，四路兄弟很快就离开了此地（k营地），从此四路兄弟彻底放弃了入侵K营地与夺取查尔阿姨的计划！四路兄弟和查尔兄弟在这两个多月争夺阿姨的时间里，阿姨多次“易主”。总体来看，四路显然更具备优势，查尔兄弟虽然处于劣势，但并非属于那种没有抵抗与进攻能力的状态，且后期的查尔兄弟显得越来越自信。如果不是由于沙河联盟的突然介入，它们当时之间的斗争也许仍然会持续下去，，，
战后第二天（2014年11月12日）开始，四路哥俩与查尔兄弟还有3头沙河雄狮都依次带伤出现，四路金发额头有几处创伤，小暗鬃眼角上也严重受伤，查尔小鼻头脸上也有可见外伤，后续目击到的查尔大鼻头受伤最为严重，后半身至少有9处伤口，3头沙河雄狮中的2头也被看到腿部受伤严重，正在艰难的瘸行！那是一个诡异的夜晚，似乎3个联盟中的7头雄狮都参与到了那场稀里糊涂不明不白的混战，，，
个人猜测可能是当天晚上四路与查尔最先遭遇，然后发生了战斗，打斗声引起了正在Kirkman*s营地寻找查尔兄弟的沙河联盟的注意，并且赶到现场加入了混战，当观察员赶到目的地的时候，四路或查尔其中的一头已经逃离了现场，所以被目击到的时候感觉是3头年轻雄狮与沙河战斗！
无论它们是以怎样的形式发生的战斗，但结果很明显，查尔兄弟都受伤并且战败了，特别是查大的身心都遭到了重创，鬃毛脱落严重，直到一年后才得以恢复！四路兄弟同样都受伤且战败了，经过这一战，它们彻底放弃了入侵停留了两个多月之久的K营地与夺取查尔阿姨的计划，从此后它们哥俩开始在萨比森各大联盟的领地之间徘徊流浪，并都做短暂的停留寻找着机会。这包括了马拉马拉、Londolozi 、Umkumbe 、Sabi Sabi 、Nkorho、猎豹平原、Arathusa、大象平原！沙河联盟虽然也带伤出现，但显然是它们赢得了这场混战的最终胜利！战后的半年内，沙河联盟成为了整个南部的真正主导者，它们横行于萨比森南部的各个营地之间，直到它们的身体开始产生变化，，，

2014年12月2日查尔斯顿大鼻头与阿姨在Kirkman营地行走。大鼻头它看起来恢复了，但是他看起来好像没有吃东西，它看起来很虚弱，它的身上有九处咬痕，腿后侧，屁股上都是伤痕，它的臀部甚至看起来有些不对称，查尔斯顿小鼻头的踪迹在两天前被看到，同样是在Kirkman，但走在另外一条路上！

沙河联盟崩塌的端倪最初源于2015年3月之前南部母狮的幼崽全部被饿死，以至于3月底后沙河联盟被南部狮群主队彻底抛弃！4月份开始，它们的身体日渐消瘦 ，面目憔悴、两眼无神 、疑似感染上了结核病。之后几个月的时间里它们经历了与查尔兄弟、四路兄弟的4次战斗。沙河联盟在第四次与查尔兄弟的战斗中再次战败后，它们彻底离开并放弃了萨比森。四路联盟在这个期间成功的取得了南部狮群的信任与青睐，并顺利的成为了新一任的国王！

The Southern Pride has gone through a rather difficult period in the past few weeks. After losing three of their cubs to hunger. One survives but was looking very thin.
The pride has been struggling to catch anything substantial and milk has been scarce amongst the females.
Africa can be a cruel place but hopefully this young cub can gain some strength and grow into adulthood.

We left the lodge early to follow up on the calling of male lions. We picked up on tracks and a while later we found the three large Sand River males in an open area resting after a long night of territorial duties. Their attention was later drawn to the alarm call of a kudu nearby.

At lunch we had 2 male lions attenpt a kill with a dugga boy (buffalo). And found other two males on the afternoon drive. While we were following the lions we bumped into a herd of ellies. Very unhappy with the lions, one elephant followed closely behind the vehicle making sure the lions go their way!

这是一个令人欣慰的消息，查尔兄弟长大了，终于到了它们报答这位含辛茹苦养大它们兄弟的伟大阿姨的时刻了！

- We recieved some great news as the two Styx males were spotted resting about. They looking very good.
- Tingana was found up in a tree with a Impala kill.
- One of the Fourway males seen mating with one of the Styx females.

The Scar-nosed Majingilane together with his brother march through the northern sector of the Sabi Sands after the two young Styxmales who, together with the Fourways males, made an appearance in the north presumably after hearing the calls of one of the Breakaway females who is clearly coming into heat. She is currently mating with one of the Fourways males at the moment. All the commotion attracted the two large Matimba's who, with their defiant roars, managed to vacate the two Majingi's who were trying to catch the Styx males themselves... All the while a rhino passes by in the background...

Two of the Sand River Males were feasting on a dead giraffe whilst the River Rocks Male was lurking around looking for an opportunity to feed.

Two of the Sand River male coalition have been feeding steadily on a giraffe carcass for the last two days, and we followed one of them to a nearby dam for a well needed drink.

以上的信息显示，5月1日2头沙河雄狮在sabi sabi营地享用一个死去的长颈鹿尸体7天前，4月24日沙河老三放单，但4月24日当晚它正在sabi sabi营地倾听它兄弟们发出的任何声音，说明它们离得并不算远，完全可以通过之间的联络声音找到对方。但7天后5月1日只看到了2头沙河雄狮在长颈鹿尸体旁，第8天5月2日仍然是2头沙河雄狮，这2天分别的照片显示是沙河老二与沙河老大！这就说明了这2天一直在吃鹿肉的是沙河老大和老二，老三并没有在一起。
然而5月3日是空白的，并没有任何目击记录，接下来的第二天5月4日就看到查尔狮群也循着气味找到了长颈鹿尸体，就在这一天sabi sabi营地官网不再用之前5月1/2日用的Two of the Sand River Males（2只沙河雄狮），而是 the Sand River males（沙河雄狮联盟），这也许说明了在这真空的5月3日，沙河老三通过它兄弟的联络声音来到了长颈鹿尸体旁，或和查尔狮群一样也循着气味找到了长颈鹿尸体，这是完全可以做到的！加上营地官网这两年一贯对它们的文字记录习惯来看，sabi sabi营地当天用的the Sand River males指的应该是完整的沙河联盟的3名成员，而不是其中的2只沙河雄狮！因此，当天与查尔兄弟互相对吼，互相挑衅争夺长颈鹿尸体占有权的应该是3头沙河雄狮！经过较量，查尔兄弟赢得了这次争夺战的胜利，成功驱逐了沙河联盟。沙河联盟是sabi sabi营地的地主雄狮，而查尔兄弟的领土领地在K营地不是sabi sabi营地，可以是查尔兄弟是在客场作战战胜了主场的沙河联盟！此时，查尔兄弟刚刚成年满4岁，沙河雄狮兄弟巅峰的7岁，但不得不说沙河联盟貌似染病的身体状态，成为了它们战败的其中一个不可忽视的因素，，，

As far as the animal activity went this week, we saw the Sand River males pay us a brief visit and it must be said that they don’t look particularly great at all. They seemed quite malnourished and lethargic, clearly not being very successful in their own hunting or perhaps just preoccupied. They were found at the remains of a kill that the Southern Pride had made the previous day and the males ate as much of the leftovers as they could before moving off again, presumably to patrol their boundaries once more. They seem to be scrapping a lot by the looks of them and one wonders just how long its going to be before they lose their prime position.

The Southern Pride in contrast is doing fantastically well at the moment now that they have distanced themselves from the Sand River males. They have been killing regularly, from medium sized antelopes to buffalos most recently. All this means is that their condition and cohesion within the group is gaining strength by the day. They have settled quite nicely in our southern reaches of the reserve and we’ve been able to spend time with them on a regular basis again. It is great to have the pride back home and looking contented. I just hope it stays this way and that soon, we get some proper pride males moving into the area

On our hunt for wild dogs we found tracks of two male lions, we followed and found the Fourways males on an impala kill which they might have stolen from the dogs! After finishing the impala they showed interest in a massive herd of Cape buffalo about 70 meters from them.

The Southern Pride were found attentively grooming one another before venturing out to hunt last night. We managed to track them down again this morning and to our surprise, two of the Sand River males were found in the nearby vicinity. We have not seen the third male in quite some time and are starting to question his whereabouts.

A WEEK IN THE BUSH: VOL 54
The Fourways males were found on the property for most of the past week and had not moved much over night from night to night. They have been following a big herd of buffalo but haven’t since caught anything. They certainly are trying to establish themselves on our Northern property. The absence of the Sand River males may play a part in this.
