《诗经-卫风-淇奥》：
瞻彼淇奥，绿竹猗猗。
有匪君子，如切如磋，如琢如磨。
瑟兮僩兮，赫兮咺兮。
有匪君子，终不可谖兮。

取“琢磨”二字为集名，盖翻译之功，贵信、达、雅也，需切磋琢磨以成其美。

【序】
当英文诗歌遇上中国古体诗是什么样子呢？英文诗歌的押韵与节奏是否能和中文诗歌的平仄与韵律相映衬呢？
艺术无国界，诗歌也无国界。笔者认为，英文诗歌与中文诗歌应是有相应切合点的，可以翻译得更好，“律诗律译”未尝不可。就如匈牙利大诗人裴多菲的那首著名的诗《自由与爱情》一样。它有几种译本，一种是殷夫先生的翻译：
生命诚可贵，爱情价更高。
若为自由故，两者皆可抛。
一种是孙用的：
自由，爱情！
我要的就是这两样，
为了爱情，我牺牲我的生命；
为了自由，我又将爱情牺牲。
按照翻译的精确度来说，孙用的更接近的。可是我们大多数人只知道殷夫先生的版本，原因很简单，就是殷夫的翻译在原有内涵的基础上加入了再创作，有“齐言”、有“押韵”，句式均齐、意境优美，读起来朗朗上口。
还有两首很经典的藏文诗同样如此：
曾缄版本：

曾虑多情损梵行，入山又恐别倾城。
世间安得双全法，不负如来不负卿。
于道全版本：
若要随彼女的心意，今生与佛法的缘分断绝了；
若要往空寂的山岭间去云游，就把彼女的心愿违背了。
同样是翻译，于道全版本的翻译可以说是最贴切最接近原文意思的，但我们却几乎不曾听说了他的版本。反而是曾缄版的“不负如来不负卿”让我们印象深刻，久久难忘。曾缄版本的翻译加入了再创作，加入了艺术手法，于是我们读起来才感觉到震撼。这一首诗可以说集翻译的大成，既是一首好的翻译作品，又是一首优秀的七言绝句。

但曾相见便相知，相见何如不见时。
安得与君相诀绝，免教生死作相思。


那么古代的翻译又是如何呢？
我们再来看一首中国历史上最早的翻译作品：
【越语歌翻译】
《越人歌》
今夕何夕兮？搴舟中流，
今日何日兮？得与王子同舟。
蒙羞被好兮，不訾诟耻。
心几烦而不绝兮，得知王子。
山有木兮木有枝，
心悦君兮君不知。
我们都知道这首《越人歌》，却很少人知道它其实是作者把越人所唱的那首歌用文言翻译过来的作品。刘向书中对歌词的古越语记音用了三十二个汉字，如下：
“滥兮抃草滥予昌枑泽予昌州州鍖州焉乎秦胥胥缦予乎昭澶秦逾渗惿随河湖。”
楚译人把它译成“楚语”，用了五十四个汉字，就是我们上面那首了。其实它直译成现代汉语应该是这样的：（《语言研究论丛》第七辑第57－65页）
夜啊，欢乐会晤的夜晚！
我多么害羞啊，我又很能摇船。
慢悠悠地摇船横渡啊，满怀喜欢！
污秽的我啊，尊敬的王子殿下竟然相识了。
藏在心底的，是我始终不谕的思恋。
我们可以看出，楚人在翻译成《越人歌》时，也加入了“齐言”、“押韵”的艺术手法对原文进行再创作，“词采声调，宛然楚辞”，非常具有文学性艺术性。


所以，一篇好的翻译一定不仅是简单的文字替代，而是运用一定的艺术手法，把文字整合加工后的一种再创作行为。在中国文化日益走向世界的今天，许多专家学者尝试着用外国文字翻译中国经典，笔者也肆力求索，希望从一些欧美流行歌曲入手，尝试用具有中国传统文化特色的古体诗对其进行翻译，侧重诗歌韵律的绵延、文学审美的保留，希望能为中国传统文化走向世界这一伟大事业尽一份绵薄之力。
